Jon Rosen is a freelance writer and master's degree student at The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Bologna, Italy, and Washington, DC.
A native of Amherst, Massachusetts, Jon recently worked as a magazine editor in Zanzibar, where he authored a forthcoming book on the Maasai people of Kenya and Tanzania. As a freelancer he has reported from East Africa, Italy, and Washington for outfits including the BBC, World Politics Review, USA Today, and Runner's World. He has also taught and coached cross-country at a rural Kenyan high school — an experience that inspired a documentary film — and worked as a web content editor at the Boston-based NGO Pathfinder International.
Currently based in Washington, Jon is a 2004 graduate of Tufts University.
